Lace and Bubble Skirt

It is officially summer but the weather says otherwise. Adding a bright color skirt to my ensemble sure brightens up my day.

Tomorrow is Canada Day and I look forward to the long weekend so much. We haven't planned much so far but a shopping trip to the states in definitely happening. Can't wait!

Versace for H&M

Wow! How exciting is this? Versace is collaborating with H&M for their latest designer collection. The collection is comprised of 40 pieces for women and 20 for men as well as accessories according to H&M's creative advisor - Margareta Van Den Bosch. This collection will hit stores on November 19. I simply can't wait! I missed the Lanvin for H&M collaboration last year but I am not going to miss this one!

Beginner's Luck?

Just a very casual outfit that I wore today to run some errands. My little sissy pointed out that I wore H&M from head to toe literately...LOL. I actually do shop from H&M very often. How can I not? H&M carries trendy but not too over the top clothing and their price point is very reasonable. And more importantly, there is a H&M store just 10 minutes from my place, and when I get bored being home all day with my now 6-month-old, what is a better way to kill some time other than going to the mall? (we will probably be going to the park more often now since the weather is warmer)

I didn't want to wait for my hubby to take pictures for me, so I asked my little sister to be the photographer. Actually I think the pictures turned out pretty good, not bad for a 14-year-old and a first timer :)

GO CANUCKS GO!

The most talked-about topic these days in Vancouver is definitely the Stanley Cup Final. Streets of Downtown Vancouver are filled with die-hard Canucks fans and hockey enthusiasts cheering for the nucks. I have never seen the city so hyped and vibrant before (other than during the 2010 Winter Olympics). The Canucks played extremely well this year and making it into the final means a lot to us Vancouverites. Although I don't follow hockey much, but as a Vancouverite, I gotta cheer for my home team! Boys, tonight is the night to show your skills and what you are capable of! Please make us proud. And Luongo, please step up your game. Let's bring home the cup!!!

The above picture is a good friend of mine standing on top of a sherman tank holding up a Canucks' flag declaring "war". Haha, this guy's got some guts! Love this photo.

Gotta love the hype in the city!

Colorfully Striped

I am so glad the stripe trend is still on and even more glad to see this trend has been reinvented season after season. Almost seen on every major runway, designers like Prada and Marc Jacobs have added some bold and playful colors to the classic print and taking it to a whole new level.

I scored this color-striped dress at H&M for $20 (originally $40).  Don't you just love sales? The black, electric blue, hot pink and bright orange worked so well together to create a harmonized color combination. Since I wanted to keep a cleaner look, I didn't accessorize the dress too much. Only a belt was added to give a more defined waistline and I was good to go!

And yes, it was actually chilly enough today for me to wear tights. I also had a jacket on but took it off while these pictures were taken. I am so desperately craving for some decent summer weather!

So have you scored any good deals lately? Please do share your purchases with me. I'd love to hear from you :)

Color Crush: Pink

I am a girly girl and I adore anything from the soft blush pink to the loud punchy fuchsia. Pink is such a romantic, sweet and feminine color, don't you think?

1. YSL Arty Ring via Net-a-Porter ($250): I love the YSL arty ring. It is such a statement ring and the versatility to wear with any outfit is an added bonus. I own this ring in turquoise and I almost wear it everyday. Now I am lusting over this soft pink color and wondering if I should invest in another one? hehe

2. 11' Pink Satchel via Cambridge Satchel (£74): Ever since I saw Fashionsquad's outfit post wearing a fluorescent yellow satchel, I immediately fell in love with it. I even entered her giveaway but did not win. Darn! But I am not sure if I can pull off a bright fluorescent colored satchel like her, a more feminine pink color is probably more suitable for my personality and my style.

3. YSL Glossy Balm via Sephora ($30): I am in need of a good quality lip balm and this Sephora exclusive YSL glossy balm might do just the trick. One drawback though, it doesn't have sun protection.

4. Essie Nail Polish in Super Bossa Nova, Pansy, Petal Pink($8): some new pink shades to pretty up my nails.

5. Moroccan Leather Pouffe in Fuchsia via Table Tonic ($199): this fuchsia leather pouffe will probably be a fun decoration to brighten up my mainly monotone place. But with the current Canada Post strike going on, I am hesitate to order anything online at this moment.

6. Oil Painting via Cocoa & Hearts ($95): the owner Jen Ramos of Cocoa & Hearts is one talented lady and probably one of the most well-known bloggers out there. She runs a successful blog and shop - Made By Girl, and it is where I get my daily inspirations from. She recently launched Cocoa & Hearts where she sells her original paintings. I shall order one of her paintings when the Canada Post strike is over.

7. Lemonade Stand Popsicle via Somewheresplendid: aren't these little popsicles so cute? I love colorful, adorable and easy-to-make chilly treats for the summer.

Angel Wings

Picked up this bright colored tee from H&M few days ago. I like the subtle fluorescent color of it, yet not too over the top. Not a bad find for a little under $10. Then I paired a simple bodycon skirt to create an overall clean look. The leather jacket is added last to toughen up the whole look and to keep me warm from the breeze.

Scultures of Animals made from Louis Vuitton Bags

Came across this today, thought I'd share with you.

These creatures were built by British artist Billie Achilleos as part of a promotional push for LV. I am amazed at what Billie Achilleos can do with leather goods; these are definitely some over the top art pieces.

Blogger Help!

I have noticed just now that my followers list disappeared. Also on my dashboard, although it shows the numbers of followers I have, but when I click on it, the page is blank. Is anyone out there experiencing the same problem? Comment or advice on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated!

iPhone just got a lot better!

On June 6, Apple made several announcements at the WWDC. A new version of iOS, the operating system used by iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, was introduced.  I know this has nothing much to do with fashion, but I really want to share my excitement about some of the improvements in iOS5 (mainly the new notification system).  And I bet many of you have one of those iOS devices, so this is not totally irrelevant : )  Here I will review a few of the key new features out of the 200 Apple claimed to have added.

1. Notification – with the current version of iOS, whenever you get a text message, email, Facebook message or any kind of notification, a dialog box pops up and interrupts you from whatever you're doing. If you receive multiple notifications while your phone is locked, you have to dismiss each of them separately, yet you can only see one notification per app. The new Notification Center is much more user-friendly. When a notification comes in, a small box will slide down from top of the screen before disappearing a few moments later.  This happens without interfering whatever it is that you are doing!  (If you have used an Android phone, you would have seen this before but I am just glad my iPhone is finally getting this feature.)  And to see all the notifications organized by app and time, you simply swipe down from top of the screen.  From there, you can go directly to the corresponding app by swiping on the individual notifications.  How convenient!

2. Lock Screen – you can now see all the notifications in your lock screen organized by app.  Similar to the new Notification Center, you can jump into the apps with a simple swipe.

3. iMessage – the new iMessage will allow you to send messages, photos, videos to another iOS device.  I currently use Whatsapp to do what iMessage will do. And I think it is more convenient than iMessage because it's a multi-platform app meaning I can send to anyone using Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, etc.  However, given that iMessage is free and I do know some iPhone users who don’t have Whatsapp, it will be useful every once a while.

4. Photo – the camera app is now accessible in the lock screen, and you can use the volume button to snap photos. Also, auto-enhance, red-eye reduction, cropping functions have been added to the app. These are some nice additions but I think the camera app still have ways to go.  How can Apple not allow users to adjust white balance and exposure?

5. Twitter Integration – allows you to tweet directly from maps, photos, safari and Youtube. This is great but it will be even better if Facebook is integrated as I am a big-time Facebook-er.

iOS5 is nowhere near perfect but it does provide users with many more useful functionality and make the iOS devices much more user-friendly.  Keep an eye out for the update this fall!

An Afternoon in the Park

We had the most gorgeous weather this weekend after weeks and weeks of rain and clouds. Signs of summer are finally showing and now I can bring out the sandals. We cannot pass up the opportunity to bring Kaitlyn out for a stroll in the park and soak up some vitamin D. And of course, mommy can always use this chance for another outfit shoot.

As I was editing the pictures, I realized how pale my legs are. Time to try some self-tanning products!

These gold Amrita Singh bangles are amazing. I normally don't wear bangles as they are always too big for me. But the good thing about these Amrita Singh bangles is they come in different sizes. And a size 6 is perfect for my tiny wrist. A side note though, I got these on sale for $28 USD. When DHL showed up at my door, I had to pay a brutal $14 CAD for duty and custom. Why are the taxes in Canada so outrageous?

What is a better way to end this gorgeous day other than enjoying a delicious home cooked meal with your loved ones. Since hubby is a huge "carnivore", hence for all the meat dishes.
