Casual Friday

Here is another outfit that features my recent obsession of the coral color. Bought this pair of pants from H&M couple of weeks ago. I love the relaxed, but overall not too slouchy fit. Perfect for a casual day.

I wear button down denim shirts very often (as seen here and here).  They are one of the essential piece in my closet. In fact, I own quite a few of them in different styles and different washes. I love how wearable and versatile they are, which can be easily dress up or down.

Coral Love

My closet consists of a lot of black and white pieces, but if you look closely, you'll see a splatter of colors everywhere. My recent color crush gotta be coral. There is something about this bright red orange color that really caught my eye. When it came to pairing this coral pleated skirt, I kinda played it on the safe side. I did not even bother to attempt color blocking. Instead, I chose a basic blouse to go with the bright color.

Back to School

I took my little sister to school supply shopping today. Seeing her getting ready and excited for the new school year made me miss those good old days. I have put off the study towards my CGA designation ever since I was pregnant and I will defer it for another year. I really look up to my co-workers who have young children, working full-time and still manage to finish their studies.

Anyway, back to my outfit for the day. Although I have perfect eyesight, but I do own a few pair of eyeglasses. They not only come in handy when I am too lazy to wear makeup and to cover my tired eyes, but they also make great accessories.  I have a small face and a flat nose, and it gets tricky when it comes to buying eyeglasses or sunglasses. As much as I love to try on new styles, I tend to avoid oversized, squarey frames. I purchased this pair a couple of months ago, and initially I was quite skeptical about them since they were a tad too big for my face. I was contemplating whether to return them for the longest time but ended up keeping them. Looking at the pictures now, I am so glad I kept these.

Introducing...SHOP CHIC ESCAPE

If you have been following my blog since the beginning, you would know I wanted to open my own online shop way back in June. I have been wanting to do this for the longest time, but the uncertainties of success and the time commitment have been my biggest hold backs. Fashion is one of the few things that I am truly passionate about, and it is what motivates me. With the support and positive feedback I gained from my fellow readers ever since I started this blog, it finally got me over the hurdle. I am excited to announce that Shop Chic Escape is finally here! My online shop is another platform for me to extend my passion for fashion and to share it with everyone out there.

All Chic Escape readers will receive 15% off on your entire purchase, just enter CHIC15 at checkout. The code is good until September 30, 2011. I am also adding some new stocks in the next week or so, please stay tuned and check back often.

Light as a Feather

Came across Natsumi Hayashi on Google+ and after checking out her blog - yowayowacamera, I was so inspired by her creativity and photography techniques. She takes levitating self-portraits and the pictures all look so amazing.

The above are some of my favourite shots; they really look like she's floating in the air.  I showed hubby her blog and he was also intrigued by her amazing photos and he suggested we should do something like that. Frankly, it was so much harder than I thought. I needed to jump at least 30+ times in order to get a decent shot and my legs were so tired afterward.  I realized I am not a jumper at all, but at least I got some workout out of this photo shoot. I have no idea how Natsumi did it in her photos, they look so effortless. On the other hand, hubby did much better than me. He only jumped fewer than 5 times and already had some usable shots.

Do I look like I am floating in the air?

FLY MOM! hehe

Hubby is already levitating on his first attempt

Hubby looks like a robot walking in air

Sister also joined us and had a few attempts

If you want to find out how this is done, please check out Natsumi's blog.

Stuck at Home

Being 3/4 way through my maternity leave, I still haven't had a chance to bring Kaitlyn to my workplace and to "show off" my little cutie pie. Hubby had a day off today and so we decided to bring her in for a visit. It was so nice to see all the familiar faces again.  I have to admit, I miss work. Not the workload that I miss but the social environment and the interaction with different people instead of baby talking all day. Don't get me wrong though, I love my daughter and I enjoy every single minute with her, but being home all day can get a little isolated and boring sometimes.

The striped dress I wore underneath was not so appropriate for an office visit as the neckline was a bit too low, so I layered up by adding this airy sweater on top.

This set of pictures were taken from my balcony as we did not bring our DSLR with us today. Given the limited space, I am glad how the pictures turned out.

Summer Glam

This morning when I opened my closet, I couldn't pick anything to wear which drove me nuts. This tends to be a recurring problem, maybe it is just my excuse to shop for more clothes. I finally picked out this beige, lace dress that I bought from Zara last year which was accidentally shrank by my lovely hubby while he was doing the laundry. I am still kind of upset talking about this since I really like the dress and I only wore it once. On the bright side, although I cannot wear this dress as a dress anymore, but I could wear it as a top.

I am really happy about this outfit I put together today despite the fact that I am feeling uninspired and all.

Maximized

Being 5'2 does not stop me from wearing maxis. In fact, they are one of my favourite ensembles in the summer. So airy and light, perfect for the heat.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far. I have been recently approached by Glymm.com and I am so excited to announce that Glymm will be giving away a September Glymm Box to one of Chic Escape's readers.

In case you haven't heard of Glymm.  Glymm is similar to Birch Box and Luxe Box. It offers its subscribers 4 - 5 deluxe-sized, luxury beauty samples each month. These samples are hand-selected by Glymm's panel of experts according to your personal beauty profile once you fill it out. I love this idea as it offers a more personal experience. Once you have tried the products in the comfort of your own home, you can then purchase the full size versions of your samples in the their beauty boutique. You can even earn points and use them towards the purchase of the full sized products off their site.

According to Glymm.com, it only ships to Canada at this moment but they will soon offer US boxes.

I haven't tried Glymm yet, but for only $10/month or $110/year, it's worth a try. If you are interested, you can sign up through here (this link contains my referral code, so if you sign up, I can earn some Glymm points too hehe)

Into the Night

These pictures were taken when hubby and I went out for dinner tonight. It was actually much harder to take photos at night than in the day. But we managed to snap a few good ones with the aid of a off-camera flash.

I scored this pussy-bow silky blouse on a recent vintage hunt; this could be a staple piece in my closet as it will go so well with almost any and everything. One thing I don't like about this look is the belt. As I was editing the pictures, I realized the belt did not go so well with my outfit. I think I'd be better off without it. Oh well... :(

I also scored this pair of Report Signature heels at Revolve Clothing for 60% off. They are okay as far as for the comfy level. But the sexiness of the straps and the peep toes made up for everything!
